On the 3rd Guinness and I went to Laurel Mountain to go for a hike. It was snowing and raining when we first got up there. We waited about 10 minutes and the precipitation stopped, we started out and not even 5 minutes into the hike the sky opened up and started to pour. Guinness looked at me I asked him if he wanted to keep going and he started back towards the truck. So today was sthe first actual hike we went on this month. Once again went up the mountain and started at the Beams Rocks Parking area. Went down to the spur trail to the LHHT. Then went north, at 1 hour from the time we started we turned around. That was just under 2.5 miles. So when we got back to the truck just over 2 hours from the time we started we went just under 5 miles. The weather was perfect for hiking, mid to upper 50s. Partly cloudy and no wind to speak of.

Today Christina and myself went to Swallow Falls State Park in Oakland Maryland. We went and hiked on the Swallow Falls Canyon Loop Trail. A 1.25 mile trail, that I managed to make into a 1.75 mile trail, that goes along the Youghiogheny River and Muddy Creek. There are four waterfalls, Muddy Creek Falls, Upper and Lower Swallow Falls, and Toliver Falls.

Well the plan was to take Guinness hiking yesterday but something came up and that got shot down. Oh well Semper Gumby, so I took him today. Went up the Mountain to Laurel Summit Rd with the intention of going back to Laurel Summit State Park and starting and ending there, a few loops that I can do from that point. But that plan got shot to hell when I saw that they have Laurel Summit Rd closed just beyond the intersection of Laurel Summit and J.E. Miller Rds. So that parking area in the Forbes State Forest is where I decided to start from. Again Semper Gumby. We started by crossing Laurel Summit Rd on J.E.Miller Rd and going to the LHHT crossing. We then turned North on the LHHT and followd that to the Beams Rocks Trail. Up the hill and to Laurel Summit Rd down to Black Bear Trail we went. Then followed Black Bear Trail back to J.E.Miller Rd and back to the Truck. A short hike today in that we only went 2.66 miles in just over one hour.

Until next time stay safe and enjoy the gifts of the creator in all of their glory.
